🍒 Cherry Muhallebi Dessert Recipe

Ingredients

Cherry Layer

  • 2 cups cherry juice
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch

Milk Pudding Layer

  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 small tea glass sugar (حوالي ½ كوب / 100 غ)
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (أو 1 packet vanilla sugar)

For Decoration

  • Desiccated coconut
  • Chopped pistachios
  • Fresh cherries

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, whisk together the cherry juice, sugar, and cornstarch until smooth.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens.
  3. Divide the cherry mixture evenly among serving cups or ramekins and let it cool slightly.
  4. In another saucepan, combine the milk, sugar, cornstarch, and flour.
  5. Cook over medium heat while stirring continuously until thick and creamy.
  6. Remove from the heat, then stir in the butter and vanilla until fully incorporated.
  7. Pour the milk pudding over the cooled cherry layer.
  8. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until completely set.
  9. Carefully unmold if desired, coat the sides with shredded coconut, and garnish with chopped pistachios and fresh cherries.
