Thin slices of beef are filled with sautéed mushrooms and gooey mozzarella cheese, then seared until golden and baked in a rich garlic butter sauce. Ingredients
For the Beef Rolls
- 8 thin beef steaks (or sirloin slices)
- 200 g (7 oz) mushrooms, sliced
- 200 g (7 oz) mozzarella cheese, cut into sticks or slices
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
For the Sauce
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
- 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (optional, for thickening)
Instructions
- Season the beef slices with salt, black pepper, paprika, and Italian seasoning.
- Heat the olive oil in a skillet and sauté the mushrooms with the garlic until tender and the moisture has evaporated.
- Place a spoonful of the mushroom mixture and a piece of mozzarella on each beef slice.
- Roll the beef tightly around the filling and secure each roll with toothpicks.
- Sear the beef rolls in a hot skillet for 2–3 minutes on each side until nicely browned.
- Transfer the rolls to a baking dish.
- In the same skillet, melt the butter, add the garlic, beef broth, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer for 3–4 minutes. Add the cornstarch slurry if you prefer a thicker sauce.
- Pour the sauce over the beef rolls.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 190°C (375°F) for 20–25 minutes, or until the beef is cooked through and the cheese is melted.
- Serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or roasted vegetables.
