Cheesy Steak Tortellini Skillet
Ingredients
For the Steak
- 500 g (1 lb) beef sirloin, cut into bite-sized cubes
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
For the Pasta
- 500 g (18 oz) cheese tortellini
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 1 carrot, diced
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
Creamy Cheese Sauce
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Garnish
- Fresh parsley, chopped
- Freshly cracked black pepper
Instructions
Step 1: Cook the Tortellini
Cook the tortellini according to the package directions. Drain and set aside.
Step 2: Cook the Steak
Season the beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over high heat and sear the beef for 3–4 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
Step 3: Cook the Vegetables
In the same skillet, melt the butter. Sauté the onion, garlic, bell pepper, carrot, and mushrooms until tender.
Step 4: Make the Cheese Sauce
Add the butter and flour, stirring for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in the milk and heavy cream. Cook until slightly thickened, then stir in the mozzarella, Parmesan, and Italian seasoning until smooth and creamy.
Step 5: Assemble
Return the steak to the skillet, add the cooked tortellini, and gently toss to coat everything in the creamy cheese sauce.
Step 6: Serve
Garnish with chopped parsley and freshly cracked black pepper. Serve immediately while hot and cheesy.
