Cheesy Beef Potato Bake

Ingredients

  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 500 g ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 cups heavy cream or béchamel sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp chili flakes (optional)
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  2. Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté the onion until softened, then add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  3. Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Season with salt, pepper, paprika, and chili flakes. Drain any excess fat.
  4. Arrange a layer of thinly sliced potatoes in the baking dish.
  5. Spread a portion of the cooked beef over the potatoes, then drizzle with cream or béchamel sauce and sprinkle with mozzarella and cheddar cheese.
  6. Repeat the layers until all the ingredients are used, finishing with plenty of cheese on top.
  7. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for another 20–25 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is golden and bubbly.
  9. Let the casserole rest for 10 minutes, then garnish with chopped parsley and serve warm.
