Cheesy Beef Potato Bake
Ingredients
- 4 medium potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 500 g ground beef
- 1 tbsp olive oil or butter
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 cups heavy cream or béchamel sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp chili flakes (optional)
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
- Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté the onion until softened, then add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
- Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Season with salt, pepper, paprika, and chili flakes. Drain any excess fat.
- Arrange a layer of thinly sliced potatoes in the baking dish.
- Spread a portion of the cooked beef over the potatoes, then drizzle with cream or béchamel sauce and sprinkle with mozzarella and cheddar cheese.
- Repeat the layers until all the ingredients are used, finishing with plenty of cheese on top.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for another 20–25 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is golden and bubbly.
- Let the casserole rest for 10 minutes, then garnish with chopped parsley and serve warm.
