Steak with Creamy Mushroom Wine Sauce

Ingredients

For the Steak

  • 2 ribeye or sirloin steaks
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

For the Mushroom Wine Sauce

  • 250 g mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 120 ml dry white wine
  • 200 ml heavy cream
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For Serving

  • Mashed potatoes

Instructions

  1. Season the steaks generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over high heat.
  3. Sear the steaks for 3–4 minutes per side (or to your preferred doneness). Remove and let rest.
  4. In the same pan, melt butter and sauté mushrooms until golden brown.
  5. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  6. Pour in the wine and simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly reduced.
  7. Stir in the cream and Dijon mustard. Simmer until the sauce thickens.
  8. Return the steaks to the pan for 1 minute, spooning the sauce over them.
  9. Garnish with parsley and serve with mashed potatoes.
