Beef & Broccoli Lo Mein
Ingredients
For the Stir-Fry
- 300 g beef sirloin, thinly sliced
- 250 g lo mein noodles (or egg noodles)
- 1½ cups broccoli florets
- 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional)
- 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
For the Sauce
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp brown sugar or honey
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- ¼ cup beef broth or water
Instructions
- Cook the noodles according to the package directions. Drain and set aside.
- In a small bowl, whisk together all the sauce ingredients until smooth.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat.
- Sear the beef for 2–3 minutes until browned. Remove from the pan.
- Add the remaining oil, then sauté the garlic and ginger for 30 seconds.
- Add the broccoli and red bell pepper. Stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until crisp-tender.
- Return the beef to the pan and pour in the sauce.
- Stir until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Add the cooked noodles and toss until everything is evenly coated.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions, then serve immediately.
