Beef & Broccoli Lo Mein

Ingredients

For the Stir-Fry

  • 300 g beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 250 g lo mein noodles (or egg noodles)
  • 1½ cups broccoli florets
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

For the Sauce

  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar or honey
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • ¼ cup beef broth or water

Instructions

  1. Cook the noodles according to the package directions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together all the sauce ingredients until smooth.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat.
  4. Sear the beef for 2–3 minutes until browned. Remove from the pan.
  5. Add the remaining oil, then sauté the garlic and ginger for 30 seconds.
  6. Add the broccoli and red bell pepper. Stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until crisp-tender.
  7. Return the beef to the pan and pour in the sauce.
  8. Stir until the sauce thickens slightly.
  9. Add the cooked noodles and toss until everything is evenly coated.
  10. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions, then serve immediately.
