For the Stromboli
- 1 lb (450 g) lean ground beef
- 1 pizza dough (about 14 oz / 400 g)
- 20–25 slices pepperoni (optional but recommended)
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- ½ tsp paprika
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tbsp olive oil
For Brushing
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tbsp melted butter
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tbsp grated Parmesan
For Serving (Optional)
- Marinara sauce
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, then cook for 2–3 minutes.
- Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Season with salt, black pepper, paprika, and Italian seasoning. Drain any excess grease and let the mixture cool slightly.
- Roll the pizza dough into a large rectangle (about 12 × 16 inches).
- Sprinkle half of the mozzarella over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
- Arrange the pepperoni slices over the cheese.
- Spread the cooked beef evenly on top.
- Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over the beef.
- Starting from the long side, tightly roll the dough into a log. Pinch the seam and tuck the ends underneath.
- Place the Stromboli seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
- Brush with beaten egg.
- Cut 4–5 small slits on top to allow steam to escape.
- Mix the melted butter, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and Parmesan. Brush over the top.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the crust is deep golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
- Let rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing.
- Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.
Enjoy! 🍕🧀
