Cheesy Beef Stromboli

Ingredients

For the Stromboli

  • 1 lb (450 g) lean ground beef
  • 1 pizza dough (about 14 oz / 400 g)
  • 20–25 slices pepperoni (optional but recommended)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

For Brushing

  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tbsp melted butter
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tbsp grated Parmesan

For Serving (Optional)

  • Marinara sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, then cook for 2–3 minutes.
  3. Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Season with salt, black pepper, paprika, and Italian seasoning. Drain any excess grease and let the mixture cool slightly.
  4. Roll the pizza dough into a large rectangle (about 12 × 16 inches).
  5. Sprinkle half of the mozzarella over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
  6. Arrange the pepperoni slices over the cheese.
  7. Spread the cooked beef evenly on top.
  8. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over the beef.
  9. Starting from the long side, tightly roll the dough into a log. Pinch the seam and tuck the ends underneath.
  10. Place the Stromboli seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  11. Brush with beaten egg.
  12. Cut 4–5 small slits on top to allow steam to escape.
  13. Mix the melted butter, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and Parmesan. Brush over the top.
  14. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the crust is deep golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
  15. Let rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing.
  16. Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.

Enjoy! 🍕🧀
